Dr. Lorin D.
Lawrence Owner, Medical
Director
Professional Interests:
Soft tissue surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, and avian medicine.
Dr. Lawrence has been a part of Ebenezer Animal
Hospital since 1985 and is the owner and medical director of the practice. He received his BS
from Syracuse University, MS from Southern Illinois University, and DVM from the University
of Missouri. In his free time, Dr. Lawrence is an avid bicyclist, plays racquetball, swims,
enjoys motorcycling, and likes computers and other gadgets. Aside from his son, step-son,
step daughter, and wife, Dr. Lawrence's "extended" family includes domestic
shorthair cats, Shrek and Spooky and Pekingnese Cisco.

Dr. Jay E.
Hreiz
Associate Veterinarian
Professional Interests:Exotic animal medicine & surgery (small mammal, reptile, & avian), soft
tissue surgery
Dr. Hreiz has been a member of the Ebenezer family
since 2008. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary
Medicine in 2008 and received his BS in Animal Bioscience from Penn State University in
2004. Jay is originally from the northeast (New Jersey and Pennsylvania) and moved to
the Carolinas in 2008. In his spare time Jay enjoys running, traveling, and
reading. He has been a licensed judge under the American Rabbit Breeders
Association (ARBA) since 2002 and has had the opportunity to judge rabbits shows
across the United States and world during this time. His house is occupied by his
retired racing Greyhound Aeris, Beagle Joe, two domestic shorthair cats (Dax & Kelvin),
and a small group of English Lop rabbits.

Dr. April Mafturak Associate
Veterinarian
Professional Interests:
Preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, animal
behavior
Dr. Mafturak is one of the newest additions to the Ebenezer Animal Hospital
team. She received her DVM degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary
Medicine (at Virginia Tech) in 2010 and her B.S. in Small Animal Science from Delaware Valley
College in 2003. She has traveled to India and Mexico to donate her time toward animal health for
those less fortunate. Prior to Veterinary school, Dr. Mafturak trained a service dog for Canine
Companions for Indepenedence and worked as a veterinary technician in Bucks County,
PA.
In her free time she enjoys rock climbing,
hiking, mountain biking, skiing, and most other activities that are in the great outdoors.
She has loved animals all her life and gets special enjoyment out of
adventuring with her boyfriend Sam, their rock-climbing dogs “Tucker” and “Colby” and
highly-trainable circus cat “Blackie”
(shown).

its clients and their pets.”

April Splawn,
JD
April Splawn has been the
administrator of Ebenezer Animal Hospital since 2004. She is a 2001 graduate from Winthrop
University (BA) and received her Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of South Carolina School of
Law in 2004. Professional affiliations include the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association. At
home she enjoys the company of the following; Timber (Retriever mix), Kade, Trail (Pitbull mix),
Cameron (Pitbull), Spunky (Domestic longhair cat), Mickey, Wesley, Blink, Figaro (Domestic
shorthair cats), and Cogsworth (rabbit).
