The Costs of Quality Veterinary Care

While the costs of wellness care (vaccinations, heartworm prevention, spays and neuters) are still very reasonable, it may surprise you to know how much it costs for non-routine medical or surgical care.
Did you know that a surgery for a common ligament rupture in the knee (ACL) can cost $400-800? If your pet gets pancreatitis and stays in the hospital on IV's for 3-4 days, it could cost $400-500. Suppose "Samantha" escapes from the house and is hit by a passing car. Say she sustains a fractured femur (upper thigh) and pulmonary hemorrhage. Costs for a 4 day stay, emergency care, and leg surgery could exceed $1000.
Most people are aware that there is no government sponsored financial assistance for pets, unfortunately. If  a major illness or injury with your beloved pets occurs, where can you turn for financial assistance? There are banks and other loaning institutions, but you must pay back a loan. Perhaps Pet Insurance is worthy of your consideration. One of the first such insurance companies in existence is Veterinary Pet Insurance. This was founded by a veterinarian (Jack Stephens, DVM) who saw too many wonderful pets not getting the care they needed because of monetary reasons.
