Dr. Maria Belu

Medical Director

Dr. Belu joined Ebenezer Animal Hospital in 2019 and in August of 2022 took over as Medical Director for the hospital. She earned a BS at Cleveland State University and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 with a DVM. O H I O! After graduating from OSU, Dr. Belu pursued a public health residency, received an MPH and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventative Medicine in 2018. She spent several years in Africa working on both mass vaccination campaigns in dogs and training other veterinarians on spaying/neutering.

Originally from Romania, she has lived in both Canada and America, and her extensive traveling made her passionate about the welfare of animals around the world. She is fluent in English and Romanian and can understand French. She fell in love with Charlotte and has put down roots with her two cats, named Phryne and Agatha. Her professional interests include exotic medicine, welfare, behavior, surgery, and dermatology. Personal interests include hiking, reading, playing video games, and traveling around the world.
