Dr. Belu is the most recent addition to the Ebenezer family, joining the hospital in March 2019. She earned a BS at Cleveland State University and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 with a DVM. After graduating from OSU, Dr. Belu pursued a public health residency, received an MPH and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventative Medicine in 2018. She spent her residency working primarily in Ethiopia training veterinarians on humane dog handling and conducting dog rabies mass vaccination campaigns in order to protect both the dogs and the surrounding community from this deadly disease. Originally from Romania, she has lived in both Canada and America, and her extensive traveling made her passionate about the welfare of animals around the world. Maria enjoys hiking, reading, painting, and traveling around the world. She has an interest in exotics, welfare, behavior, and international veterinary medicine. She currently has two guinea pigs, named Tina and Louise, and hopes to adopt a greyhound in the near future.
“I have really enjoyed my time at Ebenezer Animal Hospital thus far. The staff have made me feel so welcome and the clients have all been very warm. It’s been a pleasure seeing both domestic and exotic pets and I feel extremely privileged that every day I not only get to share my knowledge but get to learn something new from both the people I work with and the clients that walk through the door.”
