VISITING VETERINARIAN, SURGEON (DACVS)
Dr. Benitez is a traveling board-certified veterinary surgeon who specializes in advanced surgeries at EAH. She performs a wide range of procedures for our patients, including Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomies, Perineal Urethrostomies, and fracture repairs.
A graduate of Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, Dr. Benitez pursued advanced surgical training through a medical and surgical internship at the University of Georgia, followed by a three-year small animal surgical residency at Kansas State University. In February 2015, she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Dr. Benitez spent three years on the clinical faculty at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, where she honed her surgical skills while training veterinary students, interns, and residents. While she enjoys all areas of veterinary surgery, she has a particular passion for orthopedic procedures related to cranial cruciate ligament ruptures and gastrointestinal issues. Her Master of Science thesis focused on pain management in small animals, and she remains deeply committed to ensuring excellent pain relief for her patients.
She founded DVSC to provide personalized, high-quality surgical care for pets, and is excited to bring her expertise, enthusiasm, and compassionate approach to surgical consultations and procedures.
